Repre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtives from IC and Niersman celebrated the topping off together with the construc\u00adtion crew on site. Upon expected comple\u00adtion at the end of 2023, the building will offer 394 indepen\u00addent studios for students. Construc\u00adtion of the two-part building began in early 2022. It will be IC\u2019s second house in the Nether\u00adlands, after the award-winning THE FIZZ Utrecht. IC is targe\u00adting LEED Gold certi\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion for the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">JK Veldink, Senior Developer at Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus in the Nether\u00adlands, said: \u201cWe are currently right on schedule. The fit-out of the building will commence at the end of Q1 2023. With this schedule, we aim for moving in the first students at the end of this year or the begin\u00adning of next year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kristian Aipassa, Director Develo\u00adp\u00adment at Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus in the Nether\u00adlands, added: \u201cWith THE FIZZ Leiden we will set new standards. The archi\u00adtec\u00adtural design by Kokon Archi\u00adtec\u00adtuur and interior design by TANK offers spacious communal areas, a variety of diffe\u00adrent studio types and, above all, a focus on sustaina\u00adbi\u00adlity: this includes a thermal energy system, solar panels, a rainwater collec\u00adtion system and a green roof and a green facade. In addition, IC focused on incor\u00adpo\u00adra\u00adting nature inclu\u00adsi\u00advity into the landsca\u00adping. Further\u00admore, IC supports the tenants in optimi\u00adsing their energy, electri\u00adcity and water consump\u00adtion by provi\u00adding a submeter for each apart\u00adment. Leiden, like the rest of the Nether\u00adlands, has a massive shortage of adequate housing for students. In Leiden, there were just under 8,600 places in student accom\u00admo\u00adda\u00adtion for around 46,300 enrolled students  in the academic year 2021\u20132022. We want to counteract this considerable under\u00adsupply and realise additional projects in the Nether\u00adlands in the future. We are staying on course for growth and are relie\u00adving the regular housing market in the process.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague can be reached in less than 30 minutes by train or car.
