Honored: The Cube by International Campus wins the Coliving Award<\/h3>\n

Distinctive new building in Utrecht offers 639 microapartments for students under THE FIZZ brand <\/h4>\n

\u201cIt is our most specta\u00adcular new building so far. We take pride in the recogni\u00adtion of this unique archi\u00adtec\u00adture, which is designed to ensure the well-being of its residents and visitors\u201d, says Rainer Nonnen\u00adg\u00e4sser, Chief Execu\u00adtive Officer at Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus Group (IC). In the inter\u00adna\u00adtional Coliving Awards compe\u00adti\u00adtion, the company, which specia\u00adlises in tempo\u00adrary living concepts, won the category Building & Archi\u00adtec\u00adture with its project The Cube in the Dutch city of Utrecht. The modern property, which will be opening its doors in autumn 2021, features 639 student apart\u00adments.  The Cube is a joint develo\u00adp\u00adment by IC, Van Wijnen and Rockfield Real Estate. It will be operated by IC under the brand THE FIZZ.  <\/p>\n

Lead Judge Matthias Hollwich showed himself already impressed by the project during the nomina\u00adtion: \u201cThe exterior carving in the volume with access stairs, amenity programs, and roof terraces break down the building mass with identity genera\u00adting quality, while socially connec\u00adting all levels of the building. The cube is like a city within the city, where people of all backgrounds come together. This is a winning concept.\u201d<\/p>\n

Architecture for a sustainable, active and healthy lifestyle<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The cube-shaped building features two stepped towers of 15 storeys each. Not only will it be the tallest building in the green district of Overvecht; its striking archi\u00adtec\u00adture will also make it the new landmark of the neigh\u00adbour\u00adhood. Plenty of greenery in its indoor and outdoor spaces, a sports ground and a workout room in the building as well as in the courtyard, roof gardens, light-flooded rooms and various communal areas invite the residents to enjoy an active and sociable lifestyle. With these features, it realises the aspira\u00adtion of the city of Utrecht to promote healthy urban living. <\/p>\n

\u201cArchi\u00adtec\u00adture directly impacts the way we feel. Recog\u00adnising the important role the cube plays in the students\u2019 social and academic success, it was designed to focus on well-being, commu\u00adnity, social integra\u00adtion, creati\u00advity and connec\u00adti\u00advity\u201d, explains Nonnen\u00adg\u00e4sser. <\/p>\n

In February 2021, THE FIZZ Prague already won the presti\u00adgious archi\u00adtec\u00adture award \u201cBest of Realty 2020\u201d in the hotel category. \u201cIt is wonderful to see that our aim of creating student housing in an atmosphere that is archi\u00adtec\u00adtu\u00adrally as well as socially and function\u00adally sophisti\u00adcated has been confirmed by the positive feedback from the commu\u00adnity\u201d, says Nonnen\u00adg\u00e4sser.<\/p>\n

The Coliving Awards were presented for the first time on 6 May 2021, in the context of the Co-Liv Summit. Winners were selected in eleven catego\u00adries from among more than 100 submitted projects.  The winners were deter\u00admined by a public voting process on social media, a multi-member jury and the main juror of the respec\u00adtive category. The impres\u00adsive building in Utrecht was already the front\u00adrunner in the public voting process, with 40 percent of all votes for the category Building & Archi\u00adtec\u00adture.<\/p>\n
