Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus (\u201cIC\u201d), a leading investor, developer and operator of concepts for student living and urban living in Europe, just kicked off the construc\u00adtion of a student apart\u00adment block in the Dutch city of Leiden. THE FIZZ Leiden will consist of two linked building sections with a combined gross floor area of around 14,900 square metres, split into 394 single-occup\u00adancy apart\u00adments. The develo\u00adp\u00adment will also create generously propor\u00adtioned commu\u00adnity spaces as well as a communal garden. The archi\u00adtec\u00adtural design draft by Kokon Archi\u00adtec\u00adtuur & Steden\u00adbouw B.V. places great emphasis on sustaina\u00adbi\u00adlity: The concept includes a heat pump, a rainwater harve\u00ads\u00adting system and a green roof, among other things. Niersman Project Develo\u00adp\u00adment B.V. is the project developer and general contractor.<\/p>\n

Moreover, it takes less than 30 minutes to get to the seaside. So, it is the perfect setting for a wonderful, produc\u00adtive student life.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Michael Stapf, Chief Invest\u00adment Officer at Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus, added: \u201cWe are aware that the Nether\u00adlands have a massive short\u00adfall in compact accom\u00admo\u00adda\u00adtion for students and working profes\u00adsio\u00adnals. In response, we are planning to move forward with another three acqui\u00adsi\u00adtions in this growing market. Over the past two decades, student enrol\u00adment in the Nether\u00adlands has doubled, whereas the supply in adequate housing has not.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Founded in 1575, Univer\u00adsi\u00adteit Leiden is the oldest univer\u00adsity in the Nether\u00adlands and counts among the country\u2019s finest higher educa\u00adtion insti\u00adtu\u00adtions. Accor\u00adding to the university\u2019s own figures, more than 32,000 students are currently enrolled here (as of 2020). The city also hosts several univer\u00adsi\u00adties of applied sciences and private insti\u00adtu\u00adtions. Leiden has a popula\u00adtion of around 125,000 (as of early 2022). The local railway station provides quick service connec\u00adtions to Rotterdam, Amsterdam and The Hague.
