{"id":1643,"date":"2018-10-01T09:55:21","date_gmt":"2018-10-01T07:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ic-campus.com\/ground-breaking-freiburg\/"},"modified":"2023-06-20T17:42:17","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T15:42:17","slug":"ground-breaking-freiburg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ic-campus.com\/en\/ground-breaking-freiburg\/","title":{"rendered":"Ground Breaking Freiburg"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>International Campus celebrates ground breaking for new THE FIZZ student residence in central Freiburg<\/h2>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Construc\u00adtion starts on apart\u00adment building with around 340 apart\u00adments<\/li>\n<li>350 bicycle stands, 77 parking spaces in the building\u2019s own under\u00adground car park and several commu\u00adnity areas<\/li>\n<li>Comple\u00adtion and opening scheduled for 2020<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u200dTogether with some 60 guests from public adminis\u00adtra\u00adtion, science and politics as well as from the neigh\u00adbour\u00adhood, Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus celebrated the ground breaking for a new student residence in Freiburg last Friday. By 2020, around 340 fully equipped apart\u00adments for students from all around the world are to be constructed in the Herdern district of the city. The apart\u00adments will each be equipped with their own kitchenette and a bathroom with a shower. After comple\u00adtion, the student residence with a gross floor area of around 15,200 square metres will be operated under the brand \u201cTHE FIZZ\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>\u201cTHE FIZZ Freiburg Mitte\u201d on the corner of Habsburger Strasse and Rhein\u00adstrasse will consist of two sections with six\/seven storeys and will offer 350 bicycle stands, 77 parking spaces in its own under\u00adground car park, a central entrance hall with a recep\u00adtion, several communal areas such as a lounge and cooking areas, and a green inner courtyard. The general contractor is Schleith GmbH Bauge\u00adsell\u00adschaft from \u00dcberlingen. Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus is the project developer and will later operate the property.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Horst Lieder, founder and chairman from Inter\u00adna\u00adtional Campus, says: \u201cI am delighted that many guests from the neigh\u00adbou\u00adring area in parti\u00adcular accepted our invita\u00adtion to the ground breaking. The prepa\u00adra\u00adtions have reached an advanced stage and construc\u00adtion work can now begin. We intend to open THE FIZZ Freiburg in 2020. As before, we will aim to keep the incon\u00adve\u00adni\u00adence for local residents to a minimum.\u201d Lieder explains: \u201cDemand for student<\/p>\n<p>accom\u00admo\u00adda\u00adtion in Freiburg is at a high level and will remain so for the foreseeable future. For example, the number of inter\u00adna\u00adtional students in this city in the Breisgau region is steadily incre\u00adasing. Every new student apart\u00adment thus helps ease the tense situa\u00adtion on the student accom\u00admo\u00adda\u00adtion market in this univer\u00adsity city.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u200d<\/p>\n<p>In the 2017\/2018 winter semester, around 33,000 students from a wide variety of count\u00adries were studying in Freiburg. Around 5,000 students came from abroad and roughly 5,500 were in their first semester. Around 1,400 of these students were inter\u00adna\u00adtional freshers.
